Not allowed to spend with Bitcoin in Indonesia
Bitcoin Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Oscar Darmawan claimed to support the steps of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance), and Bank Indonesia forbid the use of bitcoin as a payment instrument.
"I, as a citizen, must obey the rules. Legal payment instruments are only rupiah, "Oscar said on Monday (1/29).
However, Oscar hopes the regulator issues clear rules.
In addition, the cryptocurrency industry reported to the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK).
"My hope is that the entire mobile industry in the cryptocurrency is required to be the reporting party for PPATK," Oscar added.
With that obligation, said Oscar, the cryptocurrency ecosystem will be controlled.
In addition, the traffic of sellers and buyers of cryptocurrency can be monitored measurably.
"The crypto ecosystem is clean and the perpetrators are monitored," Oscar added.
Conversely, if cryptocurrency is banned, it is counterproductive.
Monitoring of crypto transaction traffic will be difficult and uncontrolled. People involved in the transaction are undetectable and tend to be wild.
Because of this, bitcoin is quite a digital asset. When mentioned about the bitcoin distribution permit, Oscar judged it unnecessary.
According to Oscar, bitcoin is not included in the domain regulated by the OJK.
"The reason is, bitcoin is not a payment system and does not move in the realm of payment. Not a financial services institution that offers investment products. So, once again bitcoin is enough to become a digital asset, "said Oscar.
